Raised in the misty mountains of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Jemilla spent many of her days dwelling in the small, cluttered area that was her bedroom. She liked to draw little pictures, and create stories with her dolls and toys as she sat on the floor amongst her mess. Sometimes she would venture outside to create little fairy gardens and whisper to the butterflies.

As an adult, she now resides in Brisbane and maintains her sense of wonder and adventure through the creation of her (now slightly more refined) drawings, as well as through her paintings and sculptures. Her style is often somewhat surreal and eclectic, with connections to spiritual and hidden realms.
